Sacred Devotions · Daily Prayers
The Church has always sanctified the hours — morning offering, the Angelus at noon, evening prayer, night prayer. Walk with her through every hour of the day.
"Prayer is to our soul what rain is to the soil. Fertilize the soul of your child, and the rest will grow naturally."St. François de Sales
Morning Prayers
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of our bishops and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those recommended by our Holy Father this month. Amen.
Act of Faith: O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three Divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; I believe that Thy Divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived. Amen.
Act of Hope: O my God, relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and Life Everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
Act of Charity: O my God, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.
The Angelus
Prayed at 6am, noon, and 6pm since the 13th century. During Easter season, replace with the Regina Coeli.
V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace…
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord,
R. Be it done unto me according to Thy word.
Hail Mary, full of grace…
V. And the Word was made flesh,
R. And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary, full of grace…
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia!
For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia!
Has risen, as He said, alleluia!
Pray for us to God, alleluia!
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia!
R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia!
O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ; grant that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Evening & Night Prayers
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.
O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in Thy mercy grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.
Visit this house, we beg You, Lord, and banish from it all the deadly power of the enemy. May Your holy angels dwell here to keep us in peace, and may Your blessing be upon us always. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Into Your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.
May the all-powerful Lord grant us a restful night and a peaceful death. Amen.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here; ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
